Talco - Ska punk from Italy

Actually, should at this point a nice article about the heroes of the Italian ska-punk "Banda Bassotti" appear, but as the AKA has the here and here does a lot of detailed and meticulous, than I had ever trusted, I would at this body only earnestly towards the Godfathers of the Italian ska with Attitude: Because I've noticed recently a band from Marghera (Veneto, northeastern Italy), with their album "Combat Circus" not just from the title into the big shoes of the Dachshund ties Picchio singers seem to connect. The deep north-east of the Italian boot seems a particularly fertile area for young, enthusiastic band who want to give the protest and the discomfort of the children of the consumer generation, according to expression, but with Talco appears to have found a truly outstanding band, which is adequate and that also very entertaining succeed. And that has been since 2001.

Talco CombatSka So make a quick and cheerful blend of ska and punk, played technically much cleaner - and easier to sing - as the Banda Bassotti itself, but with which they share the political orientation, their status within the Italian left, but they of course, have to work out yet. I think again of course the most beautiful folk enclaves, set pieces from the Sinti and Roma culture, accompanied by circus elements and - not least - the songs of the Resistance (in addition to the mandatory version of the partisan evergreens Ciao Bella is the melody of " Fischia il vento "woven into" Il Passo Del Caciurdo "). Scan Tips are the rousing "La Carovana," the "Combat Circus" quickly and happily and opened to the Modena City Ramblers ( "Banda del Sogno Interrotto") reminiscent of "La Sedia Vuota. Who's with Gogol Bordello, Mano Negra and Ska-p can start something, you should anyway have no problems with Talco.

Total Talco is for me - you'll forgive my previous ignorance - one of the more exciting discoveries on the Italian music market. Even if the band in Italy, unfortunately, is perceived by only a few can get over the music with a political statement, it appears to be in Germany having already gained a wider fan base. And so it is probably that had ednett drawn from SchoeneToene on it as early as May, when I heard Cockney Rejects. The albums by Talco, fortunately, can be downloaded for free at Jamendo (the new not yet, but you can listen on the MySpace page of the band and invite individual titles). My recommendation: Does that brings down the fun into your car, windows and turned up the volume until the speakers begin to ring. Directions to the ideal soundtrack for the politically correct picnic in the countryside surrounding Berlin! I wish the German left would be relaxed times as relaxed, cheerful and danceable show.

Lotta e allegria, allegria e lotta!

TALCO is ech super. ciao bella, the version of them on "Combat Circus" is' really super. the new cd gibts way here.

I also find the really super, what a pity that they are perceived here in Italy no. In particular, I find Talco musically really convincing - the rhythm section is as accurate as hypervelocity (and unusual in that punk guitars that are not even really see "l'odore della morte"), the winds are above average (see "11 settembre" 73 ") and Dema can sing all off even a little.

Seriously, as I like Ska: cheerful, fast, hüpfbar and with a clear statement against racists and other Faschodreck. Saucoole left, where there's still denn sowas?

  • machnow:

hör dir mal amanecio, the new plate of Boikot in. which are also nich schlecht. Although nich ganz so expressive political, but explicitly anti-fascist and musical guerrillas. have with which an interview done. is' quite well.

The new CD combines punk, ska & Eastern mucke. The plate is' time for my favorites. You might also like.

    nice account
In my view, the many Italian bands who mix traditional songs with modern beats, there are now more than deserves to be more noticed by the musically interested public - both in Italy and in the rest of Europe.
What is raushauen groups such as Mau Mau, Après la Classe, Banda Bardo, Chichimecca, Figli di Madre Ignota etc. of musical quality so worthy of all honor.

Talco there is almost a positive exception, for they will quite often tours through Germany and have therefore made it here with interested parties, a certain name.

But unfortunately, the Italians are now also stands at more pabulum to the Anglophile, and the common German knows as the soundtrack to Italy only eros, Tiziano F. or woman Nannini.

To change a pity, but unlikely.

Particularly annoying yes, I think that the worst ska band in Italy is also the best known - so why all the world Banda Bassotti class finds is a complete mystery to me ... ....

Because the Banda Bassotti will not be judged according to their music ... if it is always pure purist would go to the music, would probably have Billy Bragg, The Levellers and NMA have had more success in England. So let us be merciful, if correct time setting also has a positive effect on awareness and perception. At BB, the total work of art is just right for the target audience - I think that would be less seriously claim that one of the best bands were.

As for the Anglophile pabulum, it is not so obvious answer. It is is a generational problem, and while the very young of 14-20 actually be littered with the same global PAMPS retort from the music industry, it looks at dee 30 + generation will still significantly different. One can now think about Vasco Rossi, Ligabue and Nomadi what you want - they certainly continue to get their stadiums full of problems. Let me leave me but a second time more extensively from ...

where possible revolutionaries but better music would have earned as Banda Bassotti - especially since it (as far as I can judge from a distance) just in Italy, many bands positioned themselves politically clearer than German bands - which is probably due to the fact that many groups their first experience in Italy have collected the Centri Sociali, which are fired in the past, such as mushrooms. It's just a difference whether we ever as a band plays in autonomic centers or in the youth room of the Evangelical Church ... ..

Yes, bands positioned themselves politically clearer than in Germany, which I have otherwise seen. Surely it depends added to the site locations for garage bands together (there are the millions of festivals in July and August, which are indeed organized by the political one direction or another), but Italy is also generally politicized. In the land of Don Camillo Peppone and political debates have a very different role in everyday life. In addition, a strong tradition of decades of politically ambitious Singer & Songwriter is that also shape the musical climate today and influence (De Gregori, De Andrè, to name but a few ...).

But otherwise, you can create with the majority vote in a democracy does not make sense: if the audience would interfere with the BB, then they would simply not listen. If this is the case that there were no alternatives, or anyone would be forced ...

The dachshund bande I would call it limited Skaband. there is' a lot more punk in there. ska is relatively new to the dachshund bande. and the ASI MI VIDA (or so was really super), the VECCHI CANI Bastardi well. and go live off the orderly. so they are liked, I think. Moreover, it has, of course, as always, to do a bit of football to ... :-)
